Jane Pearce
Ms. Jane Pearce is a food professional with 30 years of operational and leadership experience with the United Nations World Food Programme, the winner of the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize.
In 2020 Jane established Terre di Cerretino a research and organic food studies centre in southern Tuscany. TdC specializes in the local food practices and traditions of small communities in the foothills of Monte Amiata. She is a visiting didactic instructor at the University of Gastronomic Sciences, lecturing on the role of food in global politics. She is a patron of the Slow Food Movement.
A native of Australia, she is a long-term resident of Italy. Jane was educated at Monash University, Melbourne and has a Master’s in Gastronomy from the University of Gastronomic Sciences, Pollenzo, Italy. She has done continuing education courses at Oxford University and post graduate studies in Global Diplomacy at the University of London School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). She is fluent in Italian and French.
